How do I get the MLB injury report in Python?
The MLB injury report as of October 11: 283 listed players with status, injury and expected return, 171 of them on the 60-day injured list.
Code verified October 12, 2026. One call to get_injuries, 2 credits.
The call
Returns the latest day captured. Pass team for one club and date for the report as of an earlier day. Players on the injured list carry a status such as 15-Day-IL or 60-Day-IL.
import requests
import pandas as pd
API_KEY = "YOUR_API_KEY"
resp = requests.post(
"https://mcp.fastballapi.com/v1/get_injuries",
headers={"x-api-key": API_KEY},
json={},
timeout=60,
)
resp.raise_for_status()
data = resp.json()["data"]
inj = pd.DataFrame(data["injuries"])
print("report for", data["date"], "-", len(inj), "players listed")
print(inj["status"].value_counts())
print(inj.groupby("team").size().sort_values(ascending=False).head(5))
soon = inj[inj["status"].isin(["Day-To-Day", "10-Day-IL"]) & (inj["return_date"] >= data["date"])].sort_values("return_date")
print(soon[["name", "team", "position", "status", "type", "return_date"]].head(8).to_string(index=False))
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with a key from your dashboard. Python needs requests and pandas (pip install requests pandas). JavaScript runs on Node 18 or newer, or in the browser.
What comes back
The data object of the response, trimmed to the first rows. Every field is real output from the run above.
